Due to the announced NS strike on Monday, August 29, 2022, there will be very limited international train traffic.
It is not yet known what the consequences will be for domestic train traffic, but it is already clear that there will be almost no international train traffic to and from the Netherlands. Below you can read about the consequences for international train traffic.
Thalys and Eurostar
Thalys and Eurostar trains will not run between Amsterdam and Brussels-Midi v.v. on Monday 29 August. Passengers are advised to rebook or cancel their trip; this can be done free of charge via NS International customer service.
IC Brussels
The IC Brussels service between Rotterdam and Brussels is limited. It will not be clear until Monday which trains will or will not be running. The stopping train between Roosendaal and Antwerp will be running according to schedule. With an IC Brussels ticket you cannot travel with Thalys and Eurostar. Your ticket for Monday 29 August is also valid on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday due to these circumstances. In addition, you can change or cancel your ticket free of charge if your train is not running or the expected delay is more than 60 minutes.
IC Berlin
IC Berlin trains are not running between Amsterdam and Bad Bentheim v.v. You can reroute using the routes indicated in the journey planner, or you can change or cancel your ticket free of charge via the NS International Customer Service if your train is not running or the expected delay is longer than 60 minutes.
ICE International
The following ICE trains will run on Monday, August 29:
Netherlands to Germany:
- ICE 155 at 12:08 from Amsterdam to Frankfurt
- ICE 159 at 17:08 from Amsterdam to Frankfurt
- ICE 251 at 18:38 from Amsterdam to Frankfurt
Germany to the Netherlands:
- ICE 250 at 06:28 from Frankfurt to Amsterdam, arriving at 10:53
- ICE 158 at 08:16 from Frankfurt to Amsterdam, arriving at 12:53
- ICE 156 at 11:18 from Frankfurt to Amsterdam, arriving at 15:53.
ICE passengers can also use the VIAS connection (RE19) between Arnhem Centraal and Düsseldorf Hbf with their ICE ticket. Please note: due to construction works, buses instead of trains are running on this route.
