Wednesday, August 31: NS strike Eastern and Southern part of the Netherlands

Trains do run in other parts of the Netherlands, international train traffic possible

Message

On Wednesday, August 31, there will be a strike by NS employees in the eastern and in the southern part of the Netherlands. As a result, there will be no NS trains in these regions for almost the entire day. NS advises travelers to use alternative transportation or to postpone your trip. There is no alternative bus transport available. International trains will not stop in these regions, but will run in other parts of the Netherlands.

In other parts of the Netherlands, trains will be running again on Wednesday, but because no trains have been running in the entire country on Tuesday, it is possible that trains will be shorter than normal or will be cancelled. This is because not all trains are in the proper position at the start of the schedule.

Plan your trip in the journey planner and keep an eye on the live departure times just before you leave and en route, to stay informed as much as possible.

At this time it is not yet known what the consequences of this strike will be for international train traffic.

International train traffic:

International trains are running as scheduled and departures are possible from these stations: Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Hilversum and Amersfoort. You are advised to travel to these stations at least 45 minutes earlier than scheduled to avoid missing a connecting train.

International NS trains will not stop at Breda, 's-Hertogenbosch, Deventer, Arnhem Centraal, Apeldoorn, Hengelo and Almelo stations. The trains will continue at these stations without stopping.

Alternatively, you can travel (on your own) to another station where this train stops, and still make your international trip. If you are unable or unwilling to do this, you can cancel your trip free of charge or rebook for another date via the NS International customer service.
